Catechumens, Depart! is made by RFT Media. It has no accounts and no ads, and it doesn't track you. This is everything it handles.
Playing a game
When someone starts a room, our server holds it: the first names people type in to join, the side or table each person picks, their answers and their scores. A room ends after 20 minutes with no activity or 3 hours at most, and the server deletes it about 10 minutes after it ends.
Reported names
If a player reports another player's name as offensive, we keep the reported name, the game code and the reporter's first name for up to 90 days so we can look into it.
Reporting a question
When you report a question as wrong, the server stores the question, what you wrote, and a scrambled (hashed) version of a random ID your phone or browser made up the first time you used the game. The ID only stops one phone from reporting the same question twice; it isn't connected to your name or anything else about you.
On your phone
Your first name, your calendar and tradition settings, your Daily Question streak and your Ladder progress are saved on your phone, not on our server.
App errors
If the app hits an error, it sends us the error message, where in the app it happened, the kind of device, and the app version. Nothing that identifies you. Error reports are deleted after 30 days.
Parish licenses
When a parish buys a license on this site, Stripe handles the payment; we never see the card. We keep the parish name, the email address given at checkout, the parish code, and Stripe's customer and subscription numbers, so we can send the code, renew the license and answer questions about it. We keep them while the license is active, and afterward only as long as tax and accounting records require. The big screen remembers the parish code in that TV's or laptop's browser.
Our servers
Like most websites, our hosting may keep routine connection logs for security and troubleshooting. The site uses no cookies, analytics or third-party trackers.
Children
The game is made for parish groups, including families. It doesn't ask anyone's age and collects nothing beyond a first name typed in for a game.
